About ClaudiaTeaching and learning have always been a part of me. In Kindergarten I became a bookworm and from then on reading has always been my favorite way to learn. I love how reading can be a doorway to new subjects, cultures, and perspectives. My identity as a lifelong language learner began growing up in a family where four languages were spoken, often all in one conversation. My family inspired me to learn about other languages and cultures, and I started to formally learn German in 8th grade.
I loved the language so much I decided to make it one of my majors at Michigan State, and then study abroad for a year in Freiburg, Germany during my junior year. During this time, I knew I was meant to be a teacher. It was an easy decision to add education to my studies when I looked back and realized every job I had that I loved was rooted in teaching. |
It was during my first teaching job in Manchester, Michigan where I realized my passion for using technology in the classroom. I wanted to learn more so I decided to pursue my masters degree in educational technology (MAET), and I anticipate that this chapter of my ed tech studies will be completed in August 2016. My ed tech journey continues; I have been inspired by my MAET program to become a google certified educator.
I now teach German and Psychology. When I am not traveling or teaching, you can find me at home curled up with a good book or learning a new knitting pattern.
